“Canada’s National Ukrainian Festival (CNUF), held in Dauphin, MB on August 4-6 was a great success,” says CNUF CEO Samantha Schiftke.

“Our attendance increased from the previous year, the weather cooperated and our new activities and promotional campaigns were a hit,” she said.

“The Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba, Janice Filmon, and the Ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, Andriy Shevchenko, were kind enough to visit and participate in our Opening Ceremonies and Festival Parade.

“We had two feature groups from Ukraine, TIK, our Sunday Headliner, and Darmohai. As well as various artists throughout Canada. We would like to thank all our sponsors and volunteers for continuing their support of the Festival!” added Schiftke.

This year’s Grandstand performers included: TIK from Vinnytsia; Canada’s National Riding and Dancing Cossacks from Dauphin; Darmohrai from Vinnytsia; Desna from Toronto; the Sawchuk Sisters from Brandon, MB; Sche Raz from Dauphin; Sloohai; Steppe from Edmonton; Trembita from Edmonton; Tryzub from Calgary; Viter Ukrainian Dancers and Folk Choir from Edmonton; Zayshley and the Zirka Ukrainian Dance Ensemble from Dauphin.

One of this year’s special features was the Travelling Pavilion “To Canada with Love”, mosaic mural project. The exhibition will be touring Canada, to celebrate Canada’s 150 Anniversary.

Another was the Sip & Paint sessions held at the Ukrainian Site by the Pioneer House. A sparkling beverage was included as instructor Irene Whitewall-Yarema conducted the painting classes at the base of the hill.
