Nadia Demko for NP.

On July 8, 2016 representatives from Kyiv's National Specialized Children’s Hospital “ОХМАТДИТ” and the Centre for Global Surgery (CGS) from the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) met at “ОХМАТДИТ” to formalize McGill's continued partnership through the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This meeting came after an earlier meeting in December 2015 during which a feasibility assessment was conducted by members of both institutions.

Colleagues present at the meeting included Dr. Jurij Gladush, Head Doctor of “ОХМАТДИТ”; Dr. Volodymyr Povoroznuk, Deputy Chief of “ОХМАТДИТ”; Dr. Vasyl Prytula, Professor & Chief Paediatric Surgeon of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine; and Dr. Kristina Dzhuma, Trauma Registry Coordinator at “ОХМАТДИТ”. From the CGS, they were joined by Dr. Artem Luhovy from McGill University and Nadia Demko (McGill medical student). The MOU was signed by Dr. Jurij Gladush and Dr. Dan Deckelbaum, Co-Director of the CGS & Professor of Trauma and General Surgery at the MUHC.

During this meeting, plans were discussed for the installation of an electronic trauma registry at “ОХМАТДИТ” in the incoming few weeks. Also discussed future areas for collaboration, such as exchanges between residents/staff from both “ОХМАТДИТ” and the MUHC; trauma training courses specifically in the multidisciplinary approach; and patient care guidelines in the Ukrainian language.
