Danylo Puderak, Executive Director, UCC Saskatchewan.
Just over a week ago, the unthinkable happened. What seemed like an average Friday Saskatchewan evening would end in shock and in tremendous loss for our Humboldt Broncos community members, our friends and our neighbours.
To the families and colleagues of the sixteen who so sadly lost their lives on April 6th, the Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan extends its deepest sympathies. We, together with the Ukrainian community of Saskatchewan, grieve with you. Вiчная пам’ять! May their memory be eternal!
To the survivors, know that we think of you with fondness and concern and that we keep you in our prayers. We offer heartfelt support from not only our Saskatchewan community but from across our borders on your journey to recovery.
UCC Saskatchewan wishes to express sincere respect and gratitude to the first responders, the medical professionals and police service who demonstrated incredible courage and dedication while responding to this unprecedented tragedy.
Mary Ann Trischuk, President of UCC Saskatchewan, reflected that “so many of us can relate to our kids, their siblings and friends travelling to events, games, festivals or competitions and being ‘on the road.’ It is part of the fabric and makeup of our wonderful and vibrant communities. To our friends in Humboldt, we grieve with you and as a community offer our support.”
The Ukrainian Canadian Congress of Saskatchewan encourages everyone to donate generously in support of the Go Fund Me Campaign started to support the victims and families: ca.gofundme.com/funds-for-humboldt-broncos.
