Tom Jackson meets with UMCE

Dec 22, 2017 | Arts & Culture, Featured

NP-UN Western Bureau.

Renowned Canadian Singer Tom Jackson, best known for his rendition of Father Jean Brébeuf’s Huron Carole, met with members of the Ukrainian Male Chorus of Edmonton (UMCE) to discuss future cooperation following the Edmonton leg of his Christmas 150 Tour, November 30.

Jackson describes this tour as a collection of stories and songs personally gathered over a half century of travel from sea to sea to sea.

It began November 25 in Alberta and winds its way through BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. Beneficiaries of the shows are food banks, agencies serving the needs of the homeless, addicted, and marginalized as well as the Canadian Red Cross.

Co-Chairs of the Edmonton Production were former Alberta Speaker of the Legislature and Minister, and Edmonton Food Bank Volunteer Gene Zwozdesky and Edmonton Food Bank Executive Director Marjorie Bencz.

Incidentally, the Huron Carole was one of the numbers performed by the UMCE at their Festive Mosaic Concert two days later. (A review of the concert will appear in the next issues of New Pathway – Ukrainian News).
