The year 2017 proved to be another busy and successful one for the Toronto Branch of Ukrainian Women’s Organization of Canada (UWOC). UWOC-Toronto is an affiliate Branch of the Ukrainian National Federation of Canada, a not-for-profit corporation. The attendance and participation of our members and loyal supporters attending our events along with monetary donations from members, provided UWOC-Toronto with the resources to support a variety of charitable and community groups in Toronto and Ukraine.
We wish to sincerely thank everyone who made it possible for Ukrainian Women’s Organization of Canada – Toronto Branch to donate over $16,700 in 2017. The following donations were made to:
- UNF Toronto – St. John the Baptist Chapel at Camp Sokil, Hawkestone (new roof);
- UNF Toronto – Children’s Camp Sokil, Hawkestone (equipment);
- Konvalia Project – for Bethany Social Services in Ukraine;
- UNF Canada – Special Convention 2017 and Canada-Ukraine Parliamentary Program;
- Ukrainian Canadian Congress – Invictus Games, Sponsors;
- Ukrainian Canadian Congress Toronto – Holodomor Memorial;
- Commemorative Stone recognizing Canada’s 150th Anniversary & 125th Anniversary of Ukrainian Settlement in Canada;
- UWOC National – Estonia Project;
- Ukrainian Museum of Canada, Ontario Branch;
- New Pathway;
- Dorothy Ley Hospice;
- Out of the Cold (St. Margaret’s Church);
- Women’s Habitat;
- Lakeshore Area Multi-Service Program (L.A.M.P.) Children’s Early Development Program;
- Help Us Help the Children;
- Children of Chornobyl Canadian Fund;
- Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre.
In addition, available funds allowed UWOC Toronto delegates to attend the UNF National Special Convention, to be represented at the Ukrainian Canadian Social Services Banquet, the Ukrainian World Congress 50th Anniversary, Toronto, Ukrainian Canadian Women’s Council-Toronto and Area Council of Women-Toronto, as well as shipping five parcels of goods to the Social Services Agency in Zolochiv, Ukraine.
